Oh, NO! Not Another Social Network – Google+ and You
You have probably already heard of the latest social network created by Google, called Google+ (Google Plus). And you may even be scratching your head saying, oh, no not ANOTHER social network! I can barely keep up with all the things going on on FACEBOOK, LinkedIn and Twitter and now I have to think about getting involved in another?
Well yes, and no. Yes if you are an “Early Adopter” and know how important each of these “free” tools can be to your business. No, if either it’s not relevant to your business success or are already overwhelmed with the time you have been spending learning Facebook or LinkedIn or both. Either way, my suggestion is to just set up an account. That’s all. And then when you have time, go and play around with it. Because it may surprise you!
Google created Google+ because they want to remain the “king of the internet universe” and with Facebook closing in on them as the number two website in the world, Google realized they just had to do SOMETHING. And that something is, in many experts opinion going to be a better, more user-friendly, version of Facebook. And why not? They can learn from all the mistakes FB has made and create a site people really understand and like.
You can begin by first setting up your Google+ account. And its as simple as signing in with your gmail account. Don’t have gmail? Go over and grab it right now and then see what I mean. Sign up for an invite at https://plus.google.com
If you need a little help using Google+ grab this User’s Guide by Techiebuzz.com (http://bit.ly/TechieBuzz) today!
Once you set up your Google+ account you can find your URL by clicking on Profile and Privacy. You will find this long url with a list of number under your picture. That is the direct URL to your page. I suggest you use a URL shortener like Bit.ly) to shorten the link to something you will remember. Google+ currently does not offer unique URLS for individual so this is a quick way to grab one!
When you set up your Google+ account, be sure and find me at http://bit.ly/GooglePlusHeidi. I’d love to be a part of one of your circles (and you mine)!
