A great sales page can make all the difference to your business. When it comes to selling information products online a great sales page is absolutely necessary for your success. We’ve put together some of our best tips to help you create a sales page that’s truly effective.

#1 – Make the headline count. The headline is quite possibly the most important aspect of your sales page. The reason for this is that if your headline doesn’t have enough “oomph” to draw the reader in, they will simply click away from your website without reading the rest of the message. So in other words, a great headline can be the difference between making sales or not.

So just how do you write a great headline? Here are some tips:

a. Make it emotional. Emotions sell products. Most people think emotionally first and logically second. Therefore, your headline will need to draw out the emotions of the person that may purchase your product. For example, if you’re selling a weight loss product you can say something like – “Are You Tired Of Diets That Don’t Work?”

Anyone who has tried to lose weight before can tell you that the diet rollercoaster is very frustrating. This headline immediately relates to the emotions the dieter is experiencing.

b. Ask a question. In the example above, we’ve used a question format. This is important because a question draws the reader in and gets them involved. They will mentally answer “yeah, I am tired.” Questions can create an instant connection with the reader.

c. Use tried and tested headlines. There are many classic headline examples that have stood the test of time. There’s a good reason for this and that is they work. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel and instead stick to tried and tested methods.

#2 – Be a storyteller. Stories sell products. A true life story behind your product and how it came to be can be a great selling point. Great storytellers are also great salespeople. Try to connect directly with your reader and their emotions by writing about a true story they can relate to. For example, if you were once overweight and are now selling a weightloss product, share your story and let the reader know that you do indeed understand what they’re going through.

#3 – Give them proof. Social proof is important when it comes to making sales. Online it can be even more important since people are usually a little slower to build trust since they can’t interact with the people behind the site directly. Give them social proof to combat this issue. Social proof can include a number of factors from real life success stories to including your contact details on your website.

Here are a few ways to give customers social proof:

a. Tell your story. Let your potential customer know that there are real people behind your business. Tell them about you, your company, how it came to be and information about your products.

b. Let them contact you. Giving customers customer support is important. Include a real postal address, an email address and a telephone number on your website for the ultimate social proof.

c. Use third party memberships. Listing your website with the BBB or other similar online approval agencies is a great way to let your potential customers know that you’re legit. A quick search will pull up a variety of membership options.

Creating a great sales page is important and luckily it can easily be done. Using the tips above will help you get started and give you great results.
